Fifty-one is said to be the average age of menopause. However, one cannot foretell when a woman a particular woman will have begun the menopause or have signs of suggestive menopause.
People often misunderstand that the menopausal age is concerned with the age when women start having menstrual periods, which again, is not true. Mostly, women have menopause during the mid-40s or mid-50s, having said that, it may take place between the age of 30 and 40. Rare cases have seen women reaching their menopause when she is 60+. It has been observed that many women have menopause at the similar age to their mother’s menopausal age.

How long does menopause last?
This is another misconception in women that menopause is a process. It is rather a point of time when a woman’s final period ends. The woman would not know when she has reached the time of menopause phase unless she has undergone 12 succeeding months with the absence of period. The signs of menopause, however, may initiate years after the actual menopause.
Menopause is not an overnight thing, it takes time and happens gradually. The experience menopausal transition phase is different for every woman.
